Clutch Questions ........

95-RANGER 105K MI. 2.3 L
I AM STILL ON THE ORIGINAL CLUTCH........WHAT KIND OF LIFE CAN I EXPECT OUT OF THIS CLUTCH. I THOUGHT THEY WERE ONLY GOOD FOR 80-90K.
WHAT KIND OF MILEAGE ARE YOU GUYS GETTING OUT OF YOUR CLUTCH ON YOUR RANGERS?

Re: Clutch Questions ........

Normally with that mileage you would have gone thru at least one clutch job. However, if you have no problems with your clutch at this point, don't worry about it. You will know when your clutch is starting to give out.

Re: Clutch Questions ........

I replaced the clutch in my 94 4.0 at 140k But I do a lot of hwy driving. Mine started slipping when going up hills in 5th gear. I replaced it shortly after that. On the 4.0 the slave cylinder is inside the transmision if yours is the same you probably should consider replacing it at the same time you do the clutch

Re: Clutch Questions ........

I good quick test to check if your clutch is slipping is to try to drive in 2nd or third gear from a standstill. if it is slipping your vehicle will hardly move if any. if you decide to get a clutch job, I recommend to replace most if not all components, that is, plates, throwout bearings, slave cylinder, and make sure the drive plate is not warped.
