15-20 HP? Damnnn...That's 13,373 watts!

My dehumidifier only takes about 1200 watts...

Whats AC? The only AC you need in your car is Alternating Current for your ignition! We dont need no stinking heavy compressors and lines!

about 1-2 hp when off (in conjunction with the power steering, water pump belts etc).

10-12 when on full.

Painful, but in summer we get 38-42 degree (celsius) heat, so air-con is a must in all cars unless you want to pour yourself out of the car

Around 15 HP "feels" about right, but why does it take so much power? I don't think my home A/C system takes that much! (1 HP = 764.2 watts)

Belt loss and the rolling resistance as it compresses the gas. Basically it's a "loss" part of the system... but very "cool"
