Is it possible to replce the in tank factory fuel pump with an in-line pump on the 2004 Ford Ranger 3.0L? I'm certain the issue isn't the enertia switch. These in-tank pumps won't hold up & I'm tired of replacing them...It's too expensive for another 10,000 miles & then do it all over again. This was NOT one of Ford's better ideas!

Re: 2004 Ranger Fuel Pump Issues...AGAIN!!!!!
They have warranty man. fuel pumps are expensive but they're also warrantied for a year. I don't know if you'll even find an inline pump for the ranger. People don't just wake up one day and say "i'm gonna reinvent the ford ranger's fuel pump with an inline one". I'm sure you can mod an inline pump to make it fit your car though. I dont know how much luck or experience you'll have with that.

Re: 2004 Ranger Fuel Pump Issues...AGAIN!!!!!
if its a single line system then an inline definitely wouldnt work. The regulators in the tank (or its voltage limited).
Really, wouldn't work anyway. you'd have to take apart the fuel pump assembly and modify it to work with the inline setup. Not impossible (if its a 2 line system) but a bit of work As for the pump failures, are these stock pumps that are failing, or aftermarket pumps?

Have you tried a fuel pump relay, if it has one?
