Gasoline????

so now that i am the proud owner of a GTP, my manual says I can only run 91 octane fuel and 87 only for emergencies. Is this true? What could happen if i just run 87 in it? I am totally new to this car, so i dont really know anything yet.

That is correct. Unleaded regular is recommended for the normally aspirated SII 3800 engine.

Re: Gasoline????

Does the higher octane gasoline refer to a 2000 Grand Prix SE w/ 143,000 mi, 3.1? What I mean is, should I be running 91 or higher octane in my SE? Last time, before I had the tranny rebuilt, I tried higher octane fuel and noticed loss of power and hard shifting. Since the rebuild have not tried higher octane.

P.S. DO NOT EVER have your tranny "back flushed". Always get a fluid drop and filter change. Trust me, it ain't perty.

Re: Gasoline????

I just brought a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix SE with 119+Kmiles. I took it to get a diagnostic check and the computer reads P04889-AV Vent Solanoid Control Circuit malfunction or something like that. Can you explains what that really means somebody? Is it anything I can do to fix it?
