Not a Chevy question, but...

I can't get a response from the Mazda guys so I thought I would give this a shot.

My daughters 2000 Millenia with a supercharged 2.3 engine recently overheated. I changed the thermostat and refilled the cooling system and now it won't start. The engine will crank over but won't start. Someone told me to pull the fan relay #2 and use a jumper to get it to start but with the jumper in, the car then won't turn off. Does anyony have any ideas? Could it possibly be the coolant temp sensor? If so, where is it located?

Links to pics of relay with and without jumper

Thanks for any help,
Rob

Damn, that was a fast reply!!!

Nope. Relay is fine. Swapped it with one from a friends car. Mine worked in his car but his wouldn't work in my car.

Re: Not a Chevy question, but...

Re: Not a Chevy question, but...

if your relay worked in his car, and i'm assuming his worked in his own car, then that points towards a problem with your relay box.

the relay itself isn't an issue, but check all the connections in the box, check that none of the wires are damaged or anything. sounds like maybe you've burnt out a circuit or some wire.

have you checked all the fuses?

Re: Not a Chevy question, but...

Any codes in the computer? Sounds like something quit working properly and is causing the system to get confused.

Re: Not a Chevy question, but...

Well, just got in from work, it's almost 1:00am, and after reading all your ideas, I ran back out and checked the fuses. Never even thought about a fuse. Replaced a blown 15 amp fuse and it fired right up. Amazing how something so simple made me look so stupid. Thanks for all the help!

Philly, I think the regular Millenia had a 2.5 and the Millenia S had the 2.3 supercharged. It doesn't seem to have a lot of take-off, won't even spin the tires, but at about 40mph or so you can nail it and it will throw you back in the seat. I would love to try one of these engines in a Miata or an older RX-7
