Can't figure out!

95 Honda Civic DX-OK. First, 9 days ago, i replaced my radiator, everything is fine. three days ago, my car starts overheating. my water pump is leaking horribly. the next day, i buy a distributor cap and rotor button because when it rained my car would shut off and wouldn't start. so i buy the cap and button, and i change it out, everything goes fine. i get it on, and i start it and it fires right away. i shut it off about 20 seconds later because i didn't want to breathe the fumes inside the shop i was at. so i clean up and get ready to pull it out, it fires right away again. i cut it off so i can lock up the shop and then i go and start it again, it worked fine. i got to the end of the driveway, which is the highway and I take off, everything is fine till i get up to around 4k rpm's and shift to second. when i get it into second it's starts to sputter a little like it was cutting out. now mind you, when i blew my radiator, it spewed anti-freeze on my distributor and it cut out the same way. i over revved it so it wouldn't die, and i shifted into third. when i let out on the clutch, i couldn't push the gas, i mean, i could push it, it just wasn't receiving gas. it was still on, but i just couldn't go, it died so i dropped it in second, and jumped it. then it died again, and i can't get it started again. i pulled the distributor apart, and the button and the cap seem to be in place. but i just can't figure it out, if anyone can help me, please inform me. thanks

Re: New Distributor Cap & Rotor Button...won't start

try checking your ground wire to the distributor then check and make sure that the distributor is firing aka spark. no spark=problem. cps or icm.. crankshaft position sensor or ignition control module. cps is on crank and icm is in distributor to determine if icm is bad take of distributor and take it to autozone they can test it

if its not anything that these guys said then have you igniter check, i had a 90 integra and it would do the same thing but it never died on me while driving, i parked it a nd it wouldnt start again... changed the igniter and it worked great.

Re: New Distributor Cap & Rotor Button...won't start

first do you have spark ? if not do you have power to black wire with yrllow or white stripe at dist connector if not the chances are you need a pgmfi relay or you can solder the brocken soldier joints inside of it. if you do have power at the black wire with yellow or white stripe and no spark change you're dist it is most likely done i change prob 20 dist's a year and repair or replace atleast as many relays good luck.
