My favorite quote:
her family stopped going to R-rated films, then PG-13s because "PG-13 was halfway to R and it was offensive... "
So does that mean PG is offensive cuz it's halfway to PG-13? What about "raged G" movies? They're halfway to PG!

I'm expecting a lot of criminal activity from certain guys on AF, then...*cough* Ci5ic *cough*

Nope. Despite my propensity for enjoying the female form, my crimes have been mostly limited to steeling silverware from Denny's (although I did steal ALOT of it) and the occasional theft of a road-sign or two... I'm more of a hooligan than a hardened criminal hehehe.

I just thought her rationale was funny. Back when I lived in Canon City, CO (pop. 10,000; home to 7 federal and state penitentiaries) everyone thought that 100% of crime was caused by gays. "Without the #$# gays, there wouldn't be any rape, or murder..." This from people who had no teeth. Know what causes crime? People, all shapes, colors, and kinds.

I live in a province full of rednecks......if something is wrong,it's down to the "Maoris"or the Asian immigrants. And God help anyone who mentions refugees, they're all crooks and fraudsters, hellbent on bringing their whole family across in small boats...

for every possible individual streak, there's a racist looking to cut it down and spit on it.

cliffs note version for Moss...

There's this company. They rent out videos. But before they rent them out, they chop out all the dirty and rude bits.A bit like TV has been doing for years.

Where's the story? It's been done by television for years, and nobody is saying let's close all the other video shops.....If the calvinists want their own morally superior video stores, good luck to them.If enough of the moaners convert to their operation, perhaps we will see less of the narrow-minded censorship in the mainstream media.

I agree with Mr. T completely.
As far as whether or not it is legal for them to edit the movies, I think it is. If I buy a movie I have also bought the right to do what I want to it. Just like if I buy an Aston Martin Vantage and decide to put a big aluminum wing on the back and some of those light up windsheild washers on the hood I have any right to do so (however I would ask that somebody kill me if I do ).

See, the inherit problem here is that they are changing the content and re-selling the videos, that is illegal, that is copyright infringement. Also, the person who conceived that film probably wanted it that way for a reason, that is a form of art to them and a form of expression and these people just want to cut pieces out of it and change it around. It is quite stupid in my opinion. If you don't want to see those kinds of things then don't watch them, I personally don't care, so I watch rated R movies, and I will let my children watch them too. I don't want my family to be stuck in a stupid bubble all their lives, which would be pathetic.

All in all, I am going to say that I don't agree with it and think that they need to leave these movies alone. It would be legal if they were doing it for free, but since they are making money off of it, it becomes illegal. Ah the joys of capitalism.

Thus another reason I hate living in Utah. The only things that keep me here are lack of money and my family.

Why aren't you going to see it?

I might have to wait until it comes out on video, I don't know if Neutrino wants to go see it, and it is strange to go to the movies alone, and Jackass, not the best date movie.

I agree with everything you said - except the showing to your kids bit. Hopefully you will grow up between now and then - the reason for ratings is because kids are not ready to see that content yet. It can have serious psychological implications further down the track.
