2000 Silverado HELP 4wd

Heres the deal, this truck is giving me all kinds of problems. Here are just a few and any help would be greatly appreciated
1. My dashboard looks like a lightshow...lights come on and off whenever they please and my gauges just go up and down... my abs usually comes on first and my gas light says i have no gas when i have a full tank
2. Service 4wd Message is on and stays on.... the first time it came on for a minute or so and i turned my truck back off and on and it was fine... Now it stays on all the time and none of the lights on my dash work(4hi, 4lo, 2hi, A4wd). I took it to the dealership and he told me that it was the motor on the transfer case and he wanted $470 to fix it.

If anyone can help please do... i need something to fix these problems quick...Thanks

Sounds like you might have a bad ground going to your gauge cluster. Either that, or you need a new cluster. I think a few other people have had this problem. Try doing a search.

Re: 2000 Silverado HELP 4wd

My 4 wheel drive did the same thing. I took it too a mechanic and they wanted about $500 to fix it. So I decided to look into it myself and found that the 4x4 switch on the dash had some cracked solder joints, So I just resoldered them and I never had the problem again.
