Crack in paint work

I recently have been encountering that my gloss / paint has cracks in it.
The surface is glossy and smooth buts is has multiple crack lines all around the model.
The cracks appear a few weeks after the paint has dried.
Wat could be the cause of this?

Pic attached for reference

Re: Crack in paint work

It could be the primer has not dried long enough. So when the black is applied over the top the primer is still drying underneath. When it dries it shinks and makes the black crack. There are other possible causes what type of paints did you use to paint it?

Re: Crack in paint work

What did you use to paint the model?
If you used a lacquer over acrylic then that's the problem.

Re: Crack in paint work

I use Tamiya's spray cans for primer, TS-14 Black and Mr Hobby Super Clear for clear coat.
Primer has been left to dry for about 3-4days then black coat left to dry about a week then clear coat left more than a week before polishing.

It could be the clear that has cracked.I had a similar problem on a Tamiya Focus I built after applying the clear. It looked fine for about 3 weeks then gradually over time cracks started to appear in the surface.I've only ever had this problem on models I've used a clearcoat on.

Were u using Mr hobby clear too on the Focus?

Maybe i should switch back to tamiya's clear coat. Didn't experience cracking with it before.

Yes,it was the water based type Gunze Mr Top Coat Clear.I think my problem may have been that I didn't let the colour coat dry for long enough before I apllied the clear. Then the colour coat shrunk over time and this shrinkage made the clear crack.
