hey guys im a noob to nissans
ive been into hondas for about 4 years and now im looking for somthing new buts just as reliable as hondas so i chose nissan. in a few months im looking to build a s14 silvia. at first i was thinking about importing one but thats alot of cash so im gonna buy a 95-98 240sx and convert it to a s14 silvia.can u tell me what all i need to do the swap?
i know i should buy a front clip with a sr20det red top in it but thats about all i know. i will be new to nissan and turbos but thats what i want to do(have a lhd s14 silvis with a sr20det redtop) what else do i need to do to achieve the silvia look? im not worried about the front bumper because ill probally get a aftermarket front bumper from bomex but do i need the fenders and headlights and hood or is it all the same between the us and jdm s14? p.s. this is gonns become my new home from now on so thanks for all the replys and nice to meet all of you. |

Welcome to the boards
Good choice in going with Nissan You can put any of the SR's in any of the 240SX chassis's. If you plan on upgrading the SR, then I'd personally go with the S13 redtop just because of the cheaper price. If you plan on leaving the SR stock, you can get an S14 or S15 SR as well. the S14 SR has 220 hp and the S15 SR has 250hp while the S13 SR has 205 hp. The headlights don't need to be changed unless you want to do that. There were 2 versions of the S14 240SX here and 2 versions of the S14 Silvia over there. They refer to them as Zenki (first generation which is our 95-96 240SX with the oval headlights) and Kouki (second generation which is our 97-98 240SX with the "shark" headlights). So they both came on the 240SX and the Silvia, so use what you want.If you have anymore questions, post up

You need badges, steering wheel, other random crap if you wanna be really authentic.
Lemme ask, why do you want an S14? Cuz you saw it in Super Street? If so, you shouldnt be undertaking this project. The SR requires tons of cash and mechanical knowledge. As you said, you dont know turbos or Nissans or anything. I suggest you read up on that stuff first before you do anything. This is a $4000-6000 project, and if you tune it, I hope you know how to use an engine managment system(i.e APEX AFC, HKS F-CON-V) etc. etc. Go to www.santeca.com Theyre based out of Indianapolis, so if you live in the East Coast, or Midwest, theyre a great choice. They built an S13 Silvia with a huge 3037 turbo and a fully built SR and its absolutely rockin. Im buddies with one of the guys that works there and he knows his stuff, he grew up in Japan, and he owned an S13, and the other guys who work theyre can do amazing stuff. They can get engines for you, however i think you may have to BYO engine. In summary, if you read Super Street, and only want an S14 cuz uve seen them there, this IS NOT the car for you. If you truly appreicate cars, and no what an S14 is and truly stands for then good luck. RWD Turbo is a whole new ball game vs. FF Honda...
