'97 Cavalier strut prob?

Hi, I have a '97 cav. Z24 with ~118K miles on it. The front end makes a pretty loud creaking/squeeking when I go over the slightest of bumps. My dad said the struts were probably just dry and not to worry about it (?). It seems like it is happening a lot more frequently and it's worrying me. I was wondering if this is something that should be fixed asap or if it could go without fixing for a while? Also, any idea how much it would cost to repair (parts and labor)?

I also have another problem: when I'm driving in a parking lot or taking off from a stop light, it seems as if my car doesn't want to go and it kind of sputters a bit. What could this be? Importance level? Cost?

Thanks!

The creaking can likely be fixed by having your struts lubricated. It's not really that important, but the noise can become bothersome. My guess is that it would be around $40-$80 at the dealership.
