97 grand am gt wont start cant get out of park

My car wont start, when I turn the key I get a lot of clicking from the dash, the battery shows fully charged, I cnoot move the shift out of park either any one got any ideas

If its just clicking then your battery or its terminals are loose or dirty, or the batter is to low to turn over the engine.

On the shifter your foot must be on the brake, if it still doesnt work then its the shift interlock soleniod thats bad.
It is either located by the shifter or under the dash close to the brake light switch..

the barrtey reads 12.4 volts I cleaned the battery terminals. I can some times hear the starter solenoid click but the engine never gives the ifeeling it is going to turn over I got the car to come out of park once or twice by holding the key in the start position I was thinking the car may not have been fully in the park position would I have a starter issue
