Hello,I have a 1992 pontiac grand prix, I am having problems with my transmission.
It will shift gears just fine while i am driving,But when I have to stop.then there is my problem. It won't go.I have to put it down all the way in first gear and rev my engine up to be able to go.If anyone could please help me,I would really appreciate it.Thank you

Re: NEED HELP,Problems with my transmission

Oh sorry it is a automatic. Also it was brought to my attention that It doesn't do it if I have it in drive instead of over drive. But I pretty much have it in over drive,Cause I normally drive 55 to 65.Plus my book that came with the car said to have it in overdrive too.So if u could plz enlighten me and know what it could be,I would really aprreciate it.thank you so much!!

when was the last time the fluid and filter was changed?
I had a beretta with that same engine/transmission and did the same thing
it might need a band ajustment and a new shift sensor. Do you have a transmission specialist nearby with a electronic diagnosis machine?

Re: NEED HELP,Problems with my transmission

Low sprag is probably out. Another possiblity is the range senor is bad. If you pull it down to "D" from "OD" while driving 55 does the engine RPM increase?
