New Clutch..problems??

Hi, I just got a new clutch installed in my 2000 impreza RS and I don't think it was done right. When I start out in 1st or reverse the clutch shudders and the whole car feels like its shaking, its everything but smooth. Also, when the clutch is fully engaged it makes a squeaking sound that sounds like a slipping belt..and with that the pedal also itself also squeaks.

Has anyone else had this problem and/or what causes this sort of thing? The old clutch was smooth and not at all like this (before it burned up). Could this just be because its not fully broken in yet, or is this something thats not supposed to happen? Thanks!!

Re: New Clutch..problems??

When they installed the new clutch disc, did they resurface the flywheel? If not, especially judging from how the previous disc "burned up", The flywheel could possibly be glazed or warped. This would make clutch engagement shaky and I suppose noisy as well. A squeaking or shuddering at the clutch disc can conceivably be transmitted back to the pedal.

Or even if the flywheel was resurfaced and they installed the right clutch disc; if the surfaces were not properly cleaned and aligned, this could cause all the same problems as above.

Was this done at the dealer, or through another mechanic?
