Re: quick oilpan repair

To get JB weld to hold you will need to drain the oil out or below the crack.
Sand or file or grind off cracked area and clean off the cracked area real good with carb cleaner or rubbing alcohol.
And let it sit long enough to get hard and dry and cured.
Good luck.

Re: quick oilpan repair

thanks for the reply. before i used the jbweld i prepared the surface asif i were going to paint it. sanded and cleaned with final clean solvent. i did drain the pan before that. the next day (this morning) i found a pin hole in the weld job. so today i called a buddy <from the shop< of mine and i took the pan off and cleaned inside and out(including the jb weld) and he welded it.
the pan was off my wifes plymouth breeze. she went over the train tracks(too fast) and the pan scrapped the tracks. easy removal, unbolt and drop down. gasket was $20 though. gave it a tune up and oil change while i was at it.

Re: quick oilpan repair

Glad you got it fixed.
And thanks for posting back how it went.
The JB weld is good stuff but a pin hole is not good in it.
