problems
I was driving down the road and my 1990 metro h back died and would not start
No fire from anywhere blew a fuse and replaced now fire from coil still no start auto parts guys said pull ignition control module and test it I had it tested -- showed bad I lurk on many metro boards and haven't seen much on those modules price is too high for new module any other ideas ? anyone here have a full dist or module for sale ? would the module failing have anything to do with the fuse blow ?? help please

My Chilton Manual for 1985 - 2000 says the Ignition Module is part of the coil.
If that is true, then ignition coils are a dime a dozen at any wrecking yard! If you know what the ICM looks like - try an import wrecking yard or a Pull-n-Save. If you have a Pull-n-Save nearby, go there with some tools and almost any Geo Metro will have the Ignition Coil still on the car body. Should cost maybe $2. Shucks wants $100 for a new Niehoff one - Part Number: WA913M. http://www.partsamerica.com Have a look at the top Thread of this Forum - "Official Metro Parts Mail Order list" Maybe you can order one on the cheap! Ahh the good Dr. I was hoping you would reply , I always learn from your posts.
The module is part of the distributor in the Haynes on pages 5-6 We pulled it and tested it per their directions with a poor result.... I am trying to find a pic......

This is quite strange....
My Chilton manual describes an "Ignition Module" in two different places in the vehicle and on two different pages of the manual...! WTF is going on!? Somebody has their proverbial head up their butt at Chilton. Page 2 - 6 describes the "Ignition Module" as being inside the Distributor. Lower left side of page. Page 2 - 9 describes the "Ignition Module" as being a part of the coil. Upper right corner. Anybody able to clarify the beloved and revered Chilton "Manual" ? In any case - if you tested something in the Distributor (God knows what it is), then why not buy a used Distributor at any local Import Wrecking Yard or see if a Pull-n-Save has one for your year Metro? Those Distributors will probably be covered by several years of Metro's. If you can't find one locally, I would try www.RockAuto.com. Maybe someone reading this could sell you one..... DoctorBill
