u joint replacement?
Pressed in form the factory with no snap rings. Whats the best way to remove the old ones without damaging the driveshaft?
Thanks in advance Derek

Re: u joint replacement?
They're not pressed in, they're put together and molten plastic is injected in a small hole on the "ear". If you clean it up and look carefully you'll see the injection points. The "best" way to remove them is to melt the plastic with a propane torch and remove the U joint. Then go back and get all of the plastic out of the grooves in the driveshaft. Replacements will have the clips to hold them in place.

Re: u joint replacement?/Trans issue?
Thanks all fixed up. That seems to have fixed the vibration I had in the shifter but the trans is still acting like it doesnt want to go into first gear(only sometimes) and feels like it wants to throw the shifter out of gear when in second (also only sometimes). Tends to do both of these when it has been driven for awhile and is hot. All other gears seem to operate perfectly. Any idea what this might be? BTW its a 1999 5-speed.
Thanks again in advance. Derek
