Red face keyless entry remote wont program

I have a 99 yukon. It came with one factory keyless remote. I bought another remote from (yes i know) ebay. The numbers on both are identical, and both have fresh batteries.

GM 15245100-29
Canada: 218101368
Model/FCCID: AB01502T

I can't get the new remote to program I used every type of instructions i found on here. Mainly the ones in http://www.automotiveforums.com/t8206.html.

Going step by step on all of them paying attention to the "program all them
at one time" statements. I still cant get the new remote to program.

The hold unlock on door, ignition on-off-on-off, release unlock on door, doesnt make the locky cycle when you release it. However if u continue through it, then it will cycle the locks after 10 seconds of holding the remote lock/unlock buttons. Now also without doing the key on/off thing, I can stand outside, inside, on top of the truck, and hold lonk/unlock and get the same lock cycling. I assume all this is doing is re-syncronizing the remote, and not really reprogramming it.

As for the "remove the bcm fuse" instructions. I cant find a bcm fuse. Im confused to say the least. Im thinking that I got a bad remote. I also really dont want to take it to GM to program it, and then have them say, yes bad remote, and still charge me for it.

Any info will be greatly appreciated. I am leaving on a 2000 mile move in about a month, and would like to have all the bugs worked out.

Smile Re: keyless entry remote wont program

Ok this is unusual. But after diggin offsite for a couple hours, and google'n alot of stuff I found my answer.

Seems there is 2 body styles in 99 for the yukon. Mine happened to be the old style which all these methods did not work on.

Here is the place where i found my answer

The OBD2 / ALDL pinouts as looking at the connector
[01][02][03][04][05][06][07][08]
[09][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]

I just used a pigtail fuse holder with a 5 amp fuse in it as the jumper wire and connected it to pin 4 and 8, and sure as heck the locks cycled like they were supposed to.

Re: keyless entry remote wont program

Thanks for coming back to post the solution. Just for future reference, when trying to illustrate things like that it helps to set the alignment to center.

Re: keyless entry remote wont program

The Tahoe/Yukon can use 2 styles.

The base system uses this remote:

FCC: KOBUT1BT
Part # 15732803

The "Deluxe system" uses this remote:

FCC: ABO1502T
Part # 16245100-29
