96 Acura Integra Vs. 79 Monte Carlo
I know this guy with a 96 integra who wants to race me. He has got an intake and a cat back, with a manual tranny. I have my stock 305 pushing 160 HP-260Ft/Lbs, and I think my tranny has a shift kit (it seems to shift quite hard when floored). Who would win? How close would the race be? Either way i will still race him though

hmmm the 96 Integra GS-R would run 15.5 in the quarter mile stock.
If its not a GS-R then he should be a bit slower stock, so lets assume he is and has those mods. I say if he's a compitent driver he should be able to pull low 15's. You, with your 3100lb Monte and 305 power plant. You have a bit less horsepower with your tired old 305, but you carry double the torque. Torque is what will help you against him. In all honesty, you might take him off the line, but in he may have just the Horsepower advantage to pull you once he's got his momentum up. Good luck, hopefully the BowTie will come through for ya! P.S. If you do lose, dont tell the guy you swapped your new motor into the Monte when you get around to it. Ask him to race, and watch him be flabbergasted. Hehe.

In all honesty the integra would probably win, since your saying the 305 is a bit tired. So, its probably not pushing all the hp it is supposed to. Best of luck, just make it a short race like 30 yrds and let the torque jump him.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I should win cause te guy can't drive for shit. When he just got his car last year we revved on him in a saturn (with 6 people in it), so he gave us a nod to go. Long story short he stalled on the line.

Ahaha! Oh thats good... I think a stock 79 Monte Carlo is about 3400 lbs...
Port match! Port match! 305s were especially bad for having uneven head/manifold ports. Get a dremel and pick up 4 hp for free. Oh yeah, deflate your rear tires to 20psi, and give'r.

You will win.
I raced a 96 Integra with an exhaust in my 1999 GMC Yukon. I beat him by half a car length. I have 255 hp and my truck weighs around 5200lb. You should win.

Yeah I never ended up racing him (he wouldn't show up when his Girlfriend was around cause he didn't wanna get chumped in front of her) But yeah I'll never get the chance to take him in his own car cause daddy's buying him a S2000 in may.
Hopefully I got something good by then

If you guys were to race, and assuming he's a decent driver, and if the Integra is a GSR, then I think that he'd beat you. But if it's an LS, you should take him.

don't underestimate LS's!!! they are not much slower then GS-R's. the GS-R is soo overated. my friends LS stock draged a GS-R stock and with both even driver, the LS lost by a car. the LS and the GS-R both have the same gear ratios on the first 2 gears. but the LS has more low end torque. so at the first have the LS would be takin the GS-R and finaly at the second half the V-TEC will come into full effect which will alow the GS-R to catch up and finally beatin the LS by a car. stock LS's can still do 0-60 in under 8 seconds. in fact it can do 0-60 a good amount under 8 seconds. try 0-60 in 7.6 seconds and the 1/4 in 15.9 not bad for a non v-tec eh? and trust me i would know becusae i always lose to my friends LS. and we are equal drivers.

I agree with you Tat, for my friend used to own a LS with an intake and exhaust, and he'd keep up with GSR's up till 3rd gear.. But that one car legnth is what makes the difference.
