02 cav brake problem

On my 2002 cav I had to change the rear brake shoes. After changing them and making sure i put them back correctly (rechecked 3 times), now as I drive when I apply my brakes I constantly get clicking from the rear. It sounds as if the auto tensioner is adjusting then my brakes smell but no matter what or how fast I am going the brakes will make that fast ticking sound. I searched and I have pulled up similar things but I could not find a thread on a problem that seemed like mine like mine.
