oil pressure.

what should my oil pressure be at 1k RPMs and around 3k RPM's on a warmed up stealth TT? at idle its around 5-8psi. around 3k its around 30PSI. does that sound low? seems low to me.
and my cruise contoll does not work. the lights all go up like it should but it does not keep the speed at all. is that a fuse, or somethin cheap?

Re: oil pressure.

That does seem a lil low, but honestly, a car can safely run on about 8 psi of pressure w/ out much of a problem, mostly the oil just needs to circulate... i had a mustang GT b4 my vr4 that had an oil pressure problem that made it sit between 8-15 psi max oil pressure, drove it hard for 2 years and never had a problem... Also, you may wanna check your oil pressure guage, i dunno bout 3si cars, but i kno on some cars thew have a tendancy to become inaccurate...

Re: oil pressure.

At idle I would say you should be at least seeing 11 PSI.

Re: oil pressure.

OMFG. i start off to work this morning and i notice my oil pressure gauge is bottomed out. of course, i immidiately head home. I checked everything and it seems normal, but wtf???

i know, i know, stock gauge is useless, and i really should get an AM, but ever since ive owned the car it's read within the 2 big ticks, exept at idle it read 1 tick below. now, all of the sudden nothing, no matter where the throttle is at.

sorry compaq, no trying to thread hijack, but i figured since the topics are the same, no use creating another thread.

any help asap would be great. now im dotn to no cars . where are the connections for the sensor that reads? maybe one broke??? would that cause it to bottom out?

thanks guys, sorry again compaq

Re: oil pressure.

sounds like the connector came off the sensor, its just above the axle on the drivers side on the back of the engine.

Re: oil pressure.

so...ive decided im going to take this as an opportunity for another "forced upgrade" . Gonna go with some prosport gauges in the center stock locations...oil temp, oil pressure, and coolant temp...and ill do the boost in an a-pillar pod.

2 questions.

How big of gauges can i put in the stock holes?
and, Does the aftermarket oil pressure gauge connect to the stock sensor?

Re: oil pressure.

60mm gauges fit pretty well, 2 and 5/16 gauges are a little big but can be made to fit.
