2000 Olds Silhouette POSSESSED!!!!!

Ok, my first posting here...hopefully someone has a clue to what my van is doing!!! Check engine light came on about a week ago. Last Saturday i was driving down the road..going 50 mph. Breaked to turn into subdivision. Applied gas to go..nuttin. Like it is stuck in neutral! Coasted to driveway. Turned off. Started again. Check Engine light is now OFF! No Drive, No Reverse, No nuttin. Only Park. Check tranny fluid, pink, no burnt smell...full on the dipstick. Went to go lock the van...hit the lock button....here this ding, ding, ding!!! Van ran fine before Saturday and this issue. No hard shifting, no noise, nuttin. Has 80,000 miles on it. Hooked up to computer diag. no codes.
Any ideas?

Re: 2000 Olds Silhouette POSSESSED!!!!!

Welcome to the Forum!

Weird....when it happened, did you lose all your lights and other power? I wondered if you might have a bad battery cable or something, and you're getting intermittent contact when it heats up. You might check your connections. Since you had a light and now you don't and the old codes are not there, I thought maybe you lost complete battery power and that killed the engine (and wiped out the codes).

I've heard of the battery terminals getting very corroded on these vans.

Who checked the codes? Did they have just a code reader or a code scanner? I believe the former cannot read inactive codes, but the latter can read inactive and past codes.

Sorry I'm not more help. There are several other consistent posters on here that may be able to provide some ideas....Glen
