loosing too much refrigerant to fast

My neighbor has a 99 Ram 1500 2x4 5.9

I just changed the accumulator because it was leaking from a weld. I also changed the compressor last summer.

Filled the ac system and a few days later it started blowing warm air. I got a can with the leak detector in it and used a LED black light to look for the leak and cant find anything.

The only place I see refrigerant is at the low side port where I put it in. You cant miss a leak with this light. The refrigerant turns bright green under the light. I cleaned the port with the truck running to see if it was coming out from there and its not. Then I removed the high side cap and checked under there. I followed all the lines, checked front and back of condenser, checked accumulator, looked around, over and under the compressor and check under the dash board and even inside the vents.

Is it possible that too much refrigerant is being used at one time by the system? Is there some sort of flow regulator that can be screwed up?

I also have a gauge to measure the pressure in the system. It was full.

Somebody pls help

My neighbor has a bad heart and all kinds of other problems. He cant take the heat and my spare car hasnt been fixed for him to use it. The last thing I want for him to have to do is go to the dealer

Re: loosing too much refrigerant to fast

my 03 5.9 had a very small leak (took about a month for it to put out warm air) on the back of the compresser, a pop off valve is what the dealer called it, they had to replace the compresser because the valve wasn't replaceable. Thank goodness it was under warranty. I think they have a way of replacing the valve now, evidentally mine wasn't the only one with this problem
