Dipstick tube gone AWOL
I have a 94 Metro, 5 speed, 3 cyl. I went to check my oil and noticed the dipstick tube was wobbly. Second time I pulled on the stick, the tube came right up with it. Seems like the single bolt holding it in place has disappeared. Guess I know where my missing oil has gone
![]() So, two problems: A) What is the proper way to reinsert the tube? It slides right back into place, but is there an O ring or anything else to be concerned about at that connection? B) What are the specs on the missing bolt, so I can find a replacement? I can't get a good look at the hole, so I am not even sure the width of the bolt, let alone the threading. |

Re: Dipstick tube gone AWOL
probably just shoves right in, if not you might need to fabricate something, maybe JB weld it in place.
bolt is probably a 6 mm, 1.0 pitch I would temporarily pull a bolt like off the bodywork or something and see if it fits the hole. |
