Angry Sob!!!

well...took the car out for her maiden post-surgery voyage, and discovered the worst thing possible. I think my freaking driveshaft has vibration problems. Anywhere above 60mph is feels like im driving on like wake-up strips. I can hear it more than feel it, but its definitely there. I took her up to 110 to see if it went away, but no good.

needless to say im absolutely heartbroken. I really need some advice.

i got is from GTPro on a GB on 3si. Do you think its returnable? Brian seemed like a cool guy...but i dont know. Do you think it could possibly be an issue with how i installed it? Do you think it could be something other than the driveshaft?

also, is it drivable in this condition? of will that F up my t-case/rear end...

i really dont wanna have to get back under there and do everything all over again

.....(sigh)....

EDIT: double-wammy. My daily driver (and first car ive ever owned) just shit the bed.

looks like it will have to be drivable.

...when it rains it fucking pours...

im so goddamned depressed right now...

Re: Sob!!!

i don't think anybody else on AF here has a CF drive shaft. so you might ask for help on 3si. you spent a lot of money on it, so i would first question your own installation (no offense, i just don't think you wanna return something so quickly that you spent a lot of money on) and see if there's anything you may have missed. i recall you mentioning something about some excess length of the part that goes into the TC or Rear Diff? there may be some way to adjust the position of the drive shaft. or you could just call GT Pro and ask them what to do. i'm sure this vibration has happened before to other people installing CF drive shafts. don't get so down, just yet.

Re: Sob!!!

odd i thought i replied to this. Take it off at the u joint and turn it 90 degrees, then try again. If the problem is still there try that again. If you cant get the vibration gone in any of the 4 positions then you will need to exchange it.

heard back from brian this morning and thats exactly what he said.

GOD i hope it works...other than the vibration, its so badass. Maybe its all in my mind but it seems to take off so much quicker, especially from low revs (2k - 3500). Also, the gears seem to sync much quicker and easier. assuming i work out the vibration issue, i would definitely recommend one to anyone at any upgrade level.

thanks guys, ill let you know how it turn out when i get under there this weekend.

oh yea...aint this a kick in the balls. wammy no.3 today. got a ticket. more in the OT

Ermm...don't mean to bust yer bubble, but you might want to check this out:

http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread....75#post4329875

After several stories regarding GTPro, mostly from our local SoCal 3s chapter, I would never, ever do any sort of business with them. I'm not randomly "hating" on them, but if you go through the thread, you'll find some severe blemishes regarding their integrity and professionalism.

Re: Sob!!!

Yup, they are almost blacklisted from 3si. They've pulled so much shit it aint funny.

I remember when they accessed RPW in Australia and got cams for the SOHC. They tried to sell them for $1400. For 2 CAMS!!!! I could have gotten them cheaper thru RPW even with shipping. Brian went on to run his mouth about how they are exclusive and he needs to make money, blah blah blah. Needless to say, he didnt sell one kit at that price. He ended up putting them up for $600 while later and I still think he had trouble getting rid of them.

Re: Sob!!!

^wow that really freaking sux. Whether that has any effect on me giving gtpro any business in the future...i cannot say. but for the time being and the immidiate situation, i personally have had no problems whatsoever with him or gtpro. He responded to my email promptly and was very nice and understanding of the situation. He agreed to rebalance it or replace it if rotating didnt solve the problem.

honestly, i dont plan to go crazy enough with this car to ever warrant having a shop work on it, and im no where near socal, so his shop work and practices (while i may not agree with them) is not of concern. The only thing i might have a shop do is a tune when i finally upgrage turbos.
So long as any parts i buy arrive timely and are as described, i will buy them from whoever has the best price, lol.

(Chappell's show voice) Keepin' it REEEAL!

What other 3S companies are like that? I know now of GTPro and Mid-Night Haze or whatever....but are there others out there to watch out for in the 3S community?

Re: Sob!!!

Very sorry to hear this Blink. I know how it goes, I am on 5 transmissions, 3 motors and two ECU's in just about a year and a half. It'll all work out in the end.

Re: Sob!!!

I have to say that I've never had any problems with GTPro when I did business with them a couple times.
