trans flush - throttle body service
My service center keeps after me to have my transmission flushed (40,000 mi on my 2003 Marquis) and now they are recommending throttle body service. The trans flush is $209!! I will have it flushed if this is necessary but don't ever recall having that service done on a car--some of which had well over 100,000mi. Now I got a letter recommending the 'throttle body service'. The car runs great. Anyone have a recommendation?

Re: trans flush - throttle body service
If the car runs "great" I'd leave it alone! If you wish to do preventative maintence do a search for "SEAFOAM", on the board and apply the liquid yourself. You could take the air hose off the Throtle Body and spray the entire area, inside, with Throtle Body Cleaner ONLY - NOT Carb cleaner or anything else. MB

Re: trans flush - throttle body service
Some of these shops work off commision. I took my 98 in for a 12K oil change and the kid (recalling his sales training) pulled the trans dip stick and said when was the last time this was changed? Another time they said I was due for a rear axle fluid change at 30K That's funny.... my owner's manual says it is good for the life of the car.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke.
