Graphics card

Is it possible if I can add a graphics card in my Sony laptop? If so, any recommendations? Provided link would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Re: Graphics card

Most sony laptops have everything hardwired to the mainboard. There is no way to upgrade. If it's out so is our laptop! Some higher end laptops have seperate internal cards but very few. However dell has been including a seperate video card for most of their machienes.

Re: Graphics card

How does that have anything to do with what he is asking?

Re: Graphics card

it's a usb video card. You can use it instead of changing you video card in your laptop. But I fail to see how that could help with portability.

maybe you dont get it, he can't change the video card in his laptop since it's built into the main board and there is no way to add a card. replacing the main board in a lap top out of warranty usualy isn't worth the cost. his only choice now is to loose portability and anchor it to a monitor with a usb adaptor or toss it.

Re: Graphics card

He asked if he could add a video card to his laptop.

The answer is yes, using a USB video card like in that link.

Yeah, but if you read the article its not very powerful at all and has very limited resolutions to be used. I'm guessing he wants something better than what is currently in his laptop, not the option for a weak GPU via USB for a third screen...

You said it yourself - you're guessing.

I'm answering his question.

You must have totally missed my first post to this forum. I said that already so therefor I DO get it.

I have been looking at some AlienWare stuff and some of their laptops have SLI, which inables you to add a second video card if you only ordered it with one. Outside of that the only option you have is USB which will render your computer useless.
