Factory Alarm System?

Hi I was wondering if anyone here has a factory alarm system on their car? I have a 1999 Grand AM GT and I have keyless entry. The reason I was wondering was because on top on the steering column shroud there is a small red light sticking up. It never blinks or anything though. So I followed the wires coming from it and it led to underneath the dash near the brake pedal. The two small red and blue wired hooked into a black box (module maybe) and the box said "GM Accesories" on it. Then there is another big group of wires coming into it and another set of black and grey wires leading off which has a button on the end of it. So I think this is an alarm system but not sure. I never got any remotes from the dealer, just two keys. I had to buy two remotes and have them programmed at the Pontiac Dealer. So does anyone else have this black box and the red light and black button? Well maybe I will push the button and see what happens. Thanks in advance.

Hi; I also just purchased a 2003 Grand Am GT1. It also had a red light mounted on the steering column. It started flashing as soon as the ignition was turned off. If I wait to long in starting the car I have to aim my GM door remote at the dash and click the unlock button twice in order for the car to start. I thought it was a factory imobilizer but the dealer tells me it must be after market. I will have to find someone who can tell me what make it is.

well i got it connected and everything and it works. there were two wires underneath the dash that had these wierd plastic ends. i looked and there was one like it and it had a fuse in it to connect the two pieces. so i did that and tried the alarm by locking the car and manually reaching in through the window and opening the door and it worked. so i got it working now. the previous owner mustve disconnected it. one thing i've noticed though is that i can disarm the alarm by using the key in the door. if i do and when i open the door the alarm goes off. does anyone know how i can change that? Thanks.
