Smile Nightmare PO113

Hello, I just bought a Chevy Malibu 2000. As I was getting ready to take my car for the yearly inspection the engine light came on. So i took it to get it checked, the code error was PO 113. Then I went to buy the temperature sensor and changed it and reset the computer. Then after 5 miles the came on.

After that, I went to get another temperature sensor and changed it again and reset the computer and the engine light came on after 5 miles or so.

Then, I took my car to the mechanic to check the wires, and he said the wires were fine, so we changed the part, the tube, that the intake temperature sensor goes in, and after 5 miles the engine light came on.

I don't know what to do. The mechanic says that may be the car computer is messed up. So, if any of you know please tell me, should I go ahead and buy the computer for the car? Or what else should I check for before I go and buy the computer for my car.

I will greatly appreciate it.

Re: Nightmare PO113

Thank you for your comment NocturnalCreations. However, the problem is that since the engine light is on, the car will not pass the state inspection and it was due on april so I'm almost a month over due. Someone told me to just remove the dash board and remove the light but i don't think my car will pass if i do that.

Re: Nightmare PO113

I had this same problem with mine. If you haven't fixed it already, the problem isn't the sensor, its the wiring harness that plugs into it. The wires are very small and break very easily. Did this problem occur after you changed your air filter? Since the air temp sensor in on the flexible portion of the air filter assembly it breaks. The replacement wiring harness is very inexpensive and easily replaced with a pair of wire pliers.
