Re: why buy toyota echo?

I had a Toyota Echo 2000 and I really miss it.

My daughter had a bad accident with it where she struk the left front when she hit a Lincoln navigator. Needless to say the echo was scrapped but due to the way Toyota builds its cars I feel that is why she is still with us.

The mileage on ths car was amazing not to mention the comfort on the highway. After the echo I opted for a Toyota Corolla but do not like near as much as the Echo. One thing with the echo is that it sways a bit in corss winds but if you are aware of this you compensate for it by driving more carefully which we should do anyhow.

The short of it is that you cant really buy a more dependable vehicle for the money and thats why North American car manufaturers are having such a hard time. They cant compete.

Smile Re: why buy toyota echo?

I've been driving my 2000 Echo for > 140,000 miles now. To date, I have replaced a indicator light bulb in one of the taillights, plugged the rear window defroster back in, and have had the plastic levers for the bucket seats fail.

Bought the car new..... I've gotten 40-43 MPG for the entire ownership period. I've done the plugs once. 2 or 3 new air filters. Added a cabin air filter. Just put on the second set of replacement tires. The third windshield will be installed next Tuesday.

I've been rear ended twice.... both times, extremely minor damage.

When this one is worn out, it will be replaced with a Yaris, or a Scion. I expect that to happen some time after 2010.
