2001 Durango Brake - Soft Brake Pedal
I have a 2001 Dodge Durang. 105k miles.
Brake padel is real soft goes pretty far down (close to floor) before brakes kick in. Check front disc pads and rear shoe pads, both look good. Fluid level is good. Bleeed brake lines. Pump brakes up when car is off, pedal is real firm till I turn car on an push on brake pedal right to the floor. Any sugestions as to what I can check. Wife's car I never drive it, are the brake pedel on a 2001 Durango soft? Thanks for the help. |

Re: 2001 Durango Brake - Soft Brake Pedal
sounds like master cyinder they do't have to lose fluid to be bad.did you get air out of lines when you bled them? and did you ajust rear brakes out when you checked brakes? or do you have wheel disc??

Re: 2001 Durango Brake - Soft Brake Pedal
Sounds like a master cylinder to me, but I'd give the brakes another bleed if you opened that system at any time recently. Judging brake pedal with the engine off is not a good measure in any vehicle with power brakes, its Ok to bleed them with the engine off, but once you think you get firm pedal start it and cycle the bleeding procedure at least one more time.
