Performance Upgrades?

I have a 2006 Tacoma. I am thinking about adding an intake, throttle spacer and exhaust system to help out with fuel and power. Anyone have any suggestions for me? Should I go with that or is there another route I can go with a limited budget? Any help would be great.

Re: Performance Upgrades?

Save your money. None of those things will do much of anything. If you really want a bump in power get the TRD blower, or some other form of forced induction. Also, there is nothing that will boost power and fuel econ. Sorry, but the only way to make power is to burn more fuel.

Re: Performance Upgrades?

By saying TRD Blower are you referring to a Supercharger or an intake? If it is an intake will that affect the oxygen sensor and will it need to be replaced by another one to get the correct output? Also, where is the best most dependable place to buy it with a limited budget?

Re: Performance Upgrades?

Blower = supercharger.

Limited budget = save your money until you can afford to do some real work.

Re: Performance Upgrades?

So there are going to be other items that I have to buy to go along with the supercharger that are going to increase the cost? Do you have any suggestions as to saving on fuel and gas mileage? Intakes, Thottle Body Spacers, etc. I realize that you suggested saving money on those parts but they must have some benefit to them.

Re: Performance Upgrades?

With fuel upgrades and everything else you are probably going to be a bit over $5000. You have to pay to play, there is no such thing as "free HP".

Things like air filters, mufflers etc. do not have any impact on a stock motor. Toyota does a good job of tuning the motors at the factory.

Headers, a decent intake, and an exaust all put togeather will slightly boost power on a supercharged engine.

The only thing that will help fuel econ. is to get a smaller vehicle.
