97 max rad. support
Any Ideas on how to replace a radiator support. I need to know if It is welded to the frame. The area where the cross member is bolted to is heavely rusted.

Re: 97 max rad. support
The cross member 'takes in' all engine torque, has to be sound. Check out, nobody wants that to drop off...
Make/modify new support, from suitable scrap metal piece, attach with screws or rivets... Oil stops all rusting.

Re: 97 max rad. support
When you say rusted, can you break off pieces, or bend it? If it is too bad take it to a body shop.

Re: 97 max rad. support
You can definetly bend and break of some rusted chips of metal. There is actually a whole around where the crossmember bolts are located.
How much can something like this cost? Is it something you would try doing yourself? |

Re: 97 max rad. support
Price out a new core support, and if you have a buddy who is a welder by trade or good body guy, it may not cost that much. As far as would I personally do it? Nope, out of my league.
