1) Right now, I have dual profile ha700m amps (350w rms). From the battery, I have a foot-long 0 gauge wire, that hits a distribution block. From there, a 4 gauge wire runs back to the trunk. That wire then hits another distribution block, that splits into two 8 gauge wires. Those 8 gauge feeds the power to my amps.

Would I see any large noticeable difference if I run 2 4 gauge wires back to the amps, giving them each a dedicated 4 gauge, or will that just be a waste of time, or just not reward me as much as I'd like?

2) When I have my windows up, bass isn't as loud. When I roll my windows down, the bass level increases dramatically and begins to hurt my ears.

Why is it that rolling windows down boosts the volume level? Doesn't make sense to me :\

try and have as big of a wire as possible (within reason) going to the amps and cut out as many connection points (fuse blocks, distribution blocks etc ..) as possible.

When the window is down it increases the velocity of the air ..... probably means your box is not tuned very well for your car.

mine sound better with the windows down and mine are sealed so how can my box be tuned worng.

the direction the speakers face and where they are located can make a difference too

I finally thought about it some more. My trunk isn't deadened (never got around to putting more peal and seal on it), so when the windows is up, the bass goes through the trunk as the escape route, with the windows down, it goes through the windows and my ears are in the path of it.

the intent of the bigger wires were for longer runs, get as close as posible to your amps with the bigger wires, then branch off with the smaller wires to your amps...

a bass wave is omidirectional which means the wave goes off in every direction, (kinda like a expanding force field), and since every car is different acoustically the waves are going to expand and reflect in such a way that they will aid/oppose the resultant sounds depending on the placement of your subs....

with that being said, some of your sound is cancelled by waves reflecting off of your windows when they're up...conversely, when they're down the reflections are changed enough to be noticed...the variables are more than what's written here, that's why experimentation is key...

yep this is why modeling in a computer simulation is pretty much impossible. Most often you will have to find a place where the speaker is in a high pressure node to get the most output
