Problem with Sony CDX-MP80 Cutting Out

I have a problem with my Sony CDX-MP80 Car Stereo. When I crank it to about the halfway point the stereo powers off. I have disconnected the amp and have had the same problem. I was thinking of disconnecting one speaker at a time from the unit.

on most headunits, 50% volume is full power for the internal amps
