01 Cherokee question

I have another small issue to deal with on one my 01's. As you all know, that model and year and many other years offered a second electrical outlet in the dash. Mine is dead. (checked it with a phone charger and radar detector - neither would turn on).

Any one know what the cause might be? Is it a quick fix? Could it be as simple as a fuse? I really don't need it to work but it would be nice to have that second socket. Right now I am using a splitter to the job.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: 01 Cherokee question

I'm assuming the other one works. I'm not aware of it having a different fuse. You should remove it to the check the connection on the back side.

Re: 01 Cherokee question on power outlet

I went to my local Jeep dealer to find a cover door for the fuse panel inside the Jeep. They wanted $35.00 for a 4" square piece of plastic. I declined their offer and found one in a local junk yard along with a lot of fuses for $5.00.

In any event, I did check the connection to plug in the dash and it was fine. Next I checked the fuses and sure enough, the one that contols the plug was fried. I put a new on in and that fixed the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.
