FORD F250 Question
My son is considering the purchase of a 2004 Ford F250, 5.4L, Auto, 4X4, Super Duty, Crew Cab. It has 24K miles on it. I think it costs high 20's. He normally buys lemons that become money sink holes. I don't know anything about pickups. Mainly, he'll drive it to work. He'll plow snow in the winter. He has a 14ft enclosed trailer that he uses sometimes to haul around his quad, etc. Do we have any folks here that can recommend or shoot down this purchase? Any known problems, etc.?

Re: FORD F250 Question
Depending on what options and how he haggles it, that price seems about right.
If he purchases a lemon, there are lemon laws to protect the consumer. Lemon laws vary from state to state, so I can't say how protective they are of the consumer in your state. There's no real reason to have a lemon turn into a money sink hole, unless the car starts having issues after the time period in which the lemon laws still apply. If that is the case, then it could be a matter of taking proper car of the car. The fact that you live up north also has a bit to do with it. Cars have a lot more issues to deal with in the north. Extreme weather changes, potholes, snow, etc all aid in problems to a vehicle. |

Re: FORD F250 Question
In Virginia DMV told me that the Lemon Law only applies to New Vehicles.

Re: FORD F250 Question
I somehow neglected the fact that he said 24k miles. Don't ask me how I overlooked that. But yes, then I stand corrected. Lemon Laws do only apply to new cars. But for that price I think he might be able to get a new car, but don't quote me on that.

Re: FORD F250 Question
you can get plenty of brand new cars for $20,000 but if he's anything like me a truck is just the way to go
