Lights on 4x4 panel stay lite ???
Have a 94 GMC Jimmy. The indicator light on the 4x4 panel (in front of the 4x4 shifter) stays lite. Though the 4x4 shift lever is pushed all the way forward (indicating 2 wheel drive). The panel lite sometimes goes out but on no regular basis. Just wondered if there is a switch that might be sticking on the front end somewhere? The vehicle undercarrige is pretty funky. A lot of oil leaks over time that have now been fixed.
Thanks guys GT |

Re: Lights on 4x4 panel stay lite ???
Yes the light works off of a switch.
Could be the switch or could be the front axle is not locking in or unlocking good. Check vacuum to it and front actuator. First see if axle is locking and unlocking right. Also when shifting in and out of 4W put transmission in neutral or back up a little to take it out of a bind and let it get in and out good. MT

Is the axle locking in and unlocking?
Up in the how to section there is a lot of info on the actuator.

Re: Lights on 4x4 panel stay lite ???
By the light, your talking about the front axle portion light if I am right? This operates on the switch like MT mentioned. This light will go on/off based on whether the front axle is engaged or not. The switch is located on the front differential. Again like MT mentioned, check and make sure your front axle is engaging/disengaging. The light may be working fine and its your front axle that not working as needed.
