Beef up my power?

I have a 1993 olds cutlass supreme with the 3.1L engine, as most others i have the stock 105 AMP Alternator, i was wondering if i could beef it up to one with more amps without having to do any mods or getting a bigger alternator, im sure they have some with the same size that will fit and my wiring should still handle it.

I've installed plenty of aftermarket power draining electronics to my car, and theres still more stuff i want to throw in there. I'm not all too sure the alternator can handle it, it usually sits around 13V while im driving and such, which i know is normal, i just feel that i may be straining it too much and dimming headlights isnt my best feature on the car.

I am planning on adding a second battery in parallel in the trunk. I know it'll help some, but i was just curious about the alternator,

your voltage should be sitting around 14.6, but anyways, you can send your alternator in for modifications. My brother did it when he got his retardedly loud stereo.

You can also buy a high output alternator.
They make 105,110,125 amp alt. you'll just have to shop around to find one for your car..

it should be around 14.6? well then i guess i probably need a new one anyways

Try raising the Rpms up to 1200 and then test the voltage.
Just because its 13v at idle soent mean its bad either.

Could range from 13v idling to 14.6-15 volts @1200 rpms.
You have to remember all the crap thats drawing power anytime the key is on.

Plus your 93 only has a 100amp alternator. They changed that to 105amp in later on in the 95-96+. And they still use the 105amp.
Some bigger expensive vehicles with Northstar and dvd players, etc, come with a 110-120 amp altr.

14.6 with a properly operating alternator and a battery in good condition. The only time I see lower readings are with older vehicals with low alt outputs or aging batteries... im dealing with batteries all day at ford
