Fail-Safe (1964)

Oh man...has anyone else watched this movie? It's the theoretical situation of when one of our bomber group's communications malfunctioned during the cold war, and was given false electronic orders to attack Moscow, in every possibility causing world war III against Russia. It was my dad's idea to rent it from the video store.

All I can say is, that was from the sixties? We're not too far off from that happening now, this movie made me swallow my heart in my throat, that's how scary it was. On the upside it had a lot of good actors from the sixties, probably the best and most recognizable performance was given by Walter Matthau, playing a Political scientist who kept urging us to go to full war with Russia over the malfunction. This movie is one for the record books, and If you're an American, it hits you hard.

Ever hear of Dr Strangelove?

That was a remake of Fail-Safe, but as a black comedy

Pay real close attention to the names of the characters. It's a very good movie.

And if you've not seen it, Crimson Tide is also a hell of a good film.

Re: Fail-Safe (1964)

Both excellent movies. I especially liked the part Slim Pickens played.
