Freeze plug.

I have a 1997 Transport which I just replaced the head and intake gaskets on. Started and ran perfectly, followed the posts in this forum for the Transport and Venture gaskets and everything went well, however I have coolant leaking from the passenger side freeze plug under the radiator. Can anyone offer some guidance on how to fix this thing? Is it just a matter of tightening? Could it have blown when the gasket went bad?

thanks.

Re: Freeze plug.

If it is a freeze plug leaking you will need to replace it with a new one. Not an easy job given the fact that the plug is in such a hard place to get to. You can try a block sealant. If the leak is small this should do the trick. I usually don't recommend block sealant but this may be the easiest way to repair this condition.

Re: Freeze plug.

Thanks, Dad, actually, it's at the base of the radiator on the passenger side, the collant is dripping from the round plastic/rubber disk at the bottom of the radiator where it rests through the frame.

Re: Freeze plug.

False alarm, I accidentally knocked the small metal pipe below the main hose on the radiator loose when I tore down the engine, I did not know the freeze plugs were on the block, I thought they were on the radiator.
