98 Voyager radiator fan problems

Hello we are having problems with our radiator fans not working!
I checked the fans with direct power and they come on.So I then replaced the fan relay($45.00 @O'reily's). They would work fine for a day or two but then they stop coming on I got under the car and pull the plug, to the fan relay, and looked at the plug itself. I notice that one of the four connectors( holes that the plug has) has burned markings on it ,like it may have gotten too hot.So now I am thinking there is a short somewhere!!
Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it? or can anyone put there help me with this!

What color is the wire leading to the burned contact on the van harness side, not the relay side?

If it's black (ground) or dark green (fan power out) you may have a fan motor that heats up, siezes, creates an over amperage draw and toastes the relay.

If it's light green with a dark blue stripe (relay control power in) you may have a powertrain control module going.

The grey wire is the power source from the battery via the fuse.

This could also be cuased by a poor or corroded connection.

I will double check but the wire that leads to the hole thats burnt is a grey
wire! If it is what could I do to fix this?

Is the only way to tell that the fans could be the problem is by the black and green wire?

I bought a fan switch from a discount store one time and the new switch had a plastic connetor vs the metal on original and it would never stay put and truck was overhetaing occassionally because it would shake loose

I think I solve my radiator fan problem!!!

I went ahead and replaced the fans and it seemed to have fix the problem!!
I guess the old fans are going out and are pulling too much amperage!

Now all I need to do is test drive all day with the A/C on and see how it holds up!!

I jump the gun the gun too soon The radiatofans did come on but I needed to change out my radiator because it went bad(leaking and clogged)!~so I also changed the thermostat and wanted to change out the Temprature sensor but couldn't get it off!! it looks like it is in there tight!!
Its a brass fitting into the head of the engine. I didn't want to force it(turning the sensor )and break it!!!!
Has anyone out there changed one out!!

The fan relay keeps going out!!(therefore keeping the fans from coming on therefore causing overheating). I just replaced it after replacing the fans and the radiator. Something is zapping the relay out!!! can anyone out there help !!

Is the relay actually burning out, or is it not getting a correct signal from the PCM? If the temp sensor is no good it won't tell the PCM to turn on the fans.

I just replaced my relay almost exactly 1 year after replacing the temp sensor. It also had that burned look at one of the connectors (2nd from the right if you are facing into the connector on the relay). So far everything seems to be ok. Oh yeah...I did have the radiator replaced almost exactly 1 year before the temp sensor. Hmmmmm....almost a pattern here.

While you're poking around under the hood take a good look at your main harness wiring connections under the battery. If (when) battery acid leaks down it drips right on those big connectors. I had mine rewired a few years ago for about $300. Replacement of the harness is over $1000. When those connections get corroded all heck breaks loose.

YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I finally fixed the problem!!
I went and purchased a relay fan connector (the wiring harness). from the dealer($25.00) and spliced it in replacing the old one and now no problems!!!We are going on a week of using the van with the a/c on !!!!!!
