96 Cavalier engine swap

Looking for advice on swaping 2.2 motors in a 96 cavalier with a 5 spd. I have a Chilton book and a case of beer, now just need some advice. Can it be done with out removing the tranny?

If you have the right tools, sure. And most people forget to bring the beer, not realizing its importance.

The catch is that it won't be quite as easy as just pulling the tranny with it. But sure, it'll come out of there w/o taking the tranny.

Your replacing the old 2200 with a newer 2200? It should be fairly straight forward, you need lots of time set aside, and patience. Up to u whether u wanna pull the tranny or not..

Re: 96 Cavalier engine swap

Will the motor fit through the top with the tranny or will it need dropped out the bottom?

You say it is easier by pulling the tranny also? Will everything fit out through the top?
