86 IROC Carb V8 - Choke Light / Choke stays on

Hi All,

Seems like Moms choke is stuck on her 1986 Camaro. The choke light is always on and the car seems to be choked (high idle, etc). Not being fimiliar with carbs, looking for something to point me in a direction. Any suggestions with what I should look for. Anything to clean or check for power etc?

Any help is appreciated.

Verify a 12VDC supply to the choke heater with the engine running. Also verify the ground. If the voltage is present, test the heater for continuity. If there is not 12V at the choke heater (engine running) check the fuses, choke relay ( located in the swing-out "Convenience Center" under the dash) and charging system:

could be the choke thermostat. i had a similar problem where the car would run fine, but when i put it into park the revs would go up to 1500 and when i shut the car off it would diesel. turned out to be the choke thermostat.

What does the choke thermostat look like and where is it located? Is it something I can disconnect or a means to test it.
