Unhappy My 2000 328 CI's Control Arms

Well I just purchased my 2000 BMW 328 CI one week ago today and today I had to drop it off at the dealer. My boyfriend and I heard a rattle/squeak noise coming from under the driver's side of the car. When I received a call back from the dealer, the service tech told me that my left front, left rear and right rear control arms had "play" in them and had to be replaced. Thankfully it's all under warrantee and I don't have to pay a cent. But what I want to know is does anyone know if this is a problem for BMWs? It's my first one. The service tech even told me that the right rear seemed to have been recently replaced because it was shiny. Does anyone know anything about this problem? Is this going to be a major pain in my butt? Thanks for the info. if anyone has any!
