Greetings all,
Im new the the import world, and Im really looking forward to 'souping' up my car. I have the "need for speed" so to speak. I have 240Sx stock everything. Should I do an engine exchange? Swap the stock one with a SR20DET? What are some other basic to advanced things I could install to get the best out of my car?(Body kits, intake, wheels, ect.) If anyone has some good sites for 240SX gear please let me know. Also like I said im to the import world of street racing, can any one out there supply me with basic information that I need to know about pumping up my car? Such as is it better to go to a garage and get everything installed or to do it yourself? Any one from Miami Florida know a shop or two that I could stop by to check out some of the parts and prices. I know there are alot of questions but please HELP me. Also I hear all this talk of S13, S14, and S15 how do these relate to the 240SX? Thanks, JML |

what everyone referrs to as S13 S14 and S15 is basically the chassis code of each generation of 240's. in japan the 240 is called a silvia. thats where the name S comes from. now the most well known ones are the hatchbacks, and coupes from 89-94. now those are S13's. the generation after that are basically the same thing but newer so its called a S14. and the S15 never came out in the states because the unite states suck. and if your new to the whole car thing. i suggest you have someone else do the work for you. or have someone who knows alot about cars whos also your friend to teach you. and the SR20DET is a very very good motor. those are the j spec motors that comes with the silvia's in japan. you can get 300hp out of them without really breakin a sweat.

Whats the price on one of those? And whats the max HP I could get out of it? What about the GTR from the Skyline? Is that much better? Is it really hard to install or does it go easy since its Nissan on Nissan? Let me know, also if you could answer the rest of the questions that would help.
BTW thanks for the help. JML |

LOL..well anyway
The in the chassy code the S isnt really related to Silvia(Ie 180SX s13) but anyway thats kinda true The Sr20DET is a sweet motor and ive seen them live at 600HP..400+ with stock bottom end.Another option to go with the a turbo for the KA motor.. the RB26DETT is a bad idea...its $$$$$$$$ and hard to install the normal price for a S13 front clip with an SR is about 2500 or so..then you need to install it.. but before you look for just HP work the suspension..the 240SX isnt a drag car...draging them is about as stupid as drag racing a FWD car.. the 240SX is more for riping crap up at the auto cross and the race track.. thats where it should be enjoyed...

If your going to build a drag car then I'd suggest staying with the KA and turbocharging that

Honestly I have to say nothing will beat, for the pice bulding up a domestic V8 for drag...granted Japanese and Euro cars can be made quick but RWD , V8and low price, you cant beat that...
I would say a fox body 5.0L mustang would be your best bet for drag..with Gears(around $300 installed) and exahust work with an off road H pipe(varies dependiong but not more than like $500) you can get into the 13s..as my best friend did the same set up in his 89 5.0. Grated this is on El Cheepo street tires and a tired motor..so it can get a little quicker..but I was able to kill this 13 sec car on a twisty road in my old CSP CRX(that ran 16s in the 0-400M)...on non R compund tires..soi ts just what you want to have in a car..
