D16A6 turbo swap

im planning on swapping my d16a6 with another low km turbo'd d16a6.
will i have to change my ecu or my timing because of the turbo? or could i somehow get around that. im trying to avoid any ecu reprogramming. i know i can swap the engine no problem with no changes to the ecu, but im not sure what needs to be done after installing a turbo.
help me?

Re: D16A6 turbo swap

well you can do it, and run it with no tuning, but it won't run very long.

Re: D16A6 turbo swap

A VAFC will be the bare minimum that youll get away with, and at around 6 PSI it should live for awhile. Any more than that and your fuel pump wont be able to handle it.

Re: D16A6 turbo swap

what needs to be done then to ensure that it runs good? do i need a new fuel pump? or, where do i go to get it tuned properly?

Re: D16A6 turbo swap

vafc isnt a very good tuning device. infact it doesnt work at all on a honda unless you do the vafc hack. if you don't believe me look into it some more.

Re: D16A6 turbo swap

I didnt say it was good tuning advice, but he said he wanted the bare minimum and little to no ecu modification.

Re: D16A6 turbo swap

haha blow your car up OP!!
its really simple to tune your car for turbo, get a 90-91 si ecu (pm6, which it looks like you have) chip it, and get turboedit. go to ebay get a willem eprom programmer with a few 27c256 chips and a uv eraser or some 29c512's if your a baller, borrow a wb02 kit and do that shit up

if u want someone to tune it you gotta upgrade to odb1 and run chrome or something more common then turboedit, unless you can find a turboedit tuner....
