hey guys, need some help

hey everyone, im 18 and am getting my first car soon, i want a 1967 gto because i love its looks but i want more speed and want to supe it up, i dont know much about cars but wanted to know if its possible to put in a 540 superchargerd hemi http://www.jimsautoparts.com/mopar_p...ce_engines.htm or is it not doable, also are there any other parts i can use to improve peformence, thanks for any help

There are many highly skilled and experienced people here at AF who volunteer their time and effort to help others. Your second post is mildly offensive and will only have such volunteers dismiss you for being obnoxious and may not actually help you.

3. Finally, your question is a little far fetched. If swapping a Hemi into a GTO was such a good idea, you would see more of them. The Hemi engine is physically large, and swapping one in would be difficult and expensive to get it to fit. It is also largely unnecessary because the Pontiac block (389, 400, 421, 455) can really be made to go.
If you want to find out how to do this, remember, the search engine is your friend. There are many performance oriented Pontiac V8 threads at AF.
I would respectfully suggest to do some research first, then you can ask better - informed and more effective questions.

Hemi is a legendary engine, to be sure. It is not, however, a good candidate for a street-driven performance car. Traction is hard enough to get with a "normal" engine. High performance engines make it tougher. Hemi makes it impossible without slicks. My GTO stomped several Hemi cars, not from superior power, but from superior driving. The Hemi car would just sit and spin the tires, while the GTO was nearing the 1/8 mile mark before the Hemi car could get moving. Put slicks on the Hemi car, and it was no contest, the OTHER direction. But NEVER forget... GTO did NOT earn a reputation for losing.

Get Jim Hand's book "How to Build Max-performance Pontiac V8s". This is the most current study of the ol' Injun. This past weekend, right here near Richmond, we had "Pontiacs in the Park" at VMP. MANY true street cars in the 10s, and a couple in the 9s (street car means 93 octane gas, and actually drivable...). One of our guys went 11.60s all weekend through the pipes on DOT tires, no adders. Imagine the surprise from an Acura or other fart-pipe guy when his "11 second" Jap crap gets SMOKED by a 40 year old car getting 15 MPG on 93... Another of our guys put down a career-best of 10.39 at 129 in a '70 Firebird, weighing in at 3,400 lbs. 461 CID, 93 octane gas, and again, no adders! The point of this paragraph is to assure you, the Pontiac is a GREAT street engine. Possibly the best of the lot, if drivability and fuel efficiency are factored in. You MIGHT squeeze more HP out of another marque, but it won't be as much fun to drive.

Seconded, add a 200lb heavier engine to a GTO!, I am in the process of building a 400 for a friend, 475 hp, pump gas engine, but parts are expensive and so is machine work. A Hemi belongs where it was put and talk about expense!! Look at my signature, thats where it should be!
