I have a 94 325ic automatic, after enging running 15 minutes or so, whenever I come to a stop whether in drive or park, the oil pressure light comes on (idle is 700-800 rpm). Light is out when driving (1000+ rpm). I have had the oil pressure checked, and is ok. Is there a chain for the oil pump on this model? Or is it more likely the pump or circuit? Car has 103,000 miles. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

If the oil pressure is OK when the engine is idling, then it could be that the pressure switch is failing.

I have the same problem with my 1996 328i. Have you solved the mystery. If so, please let me know. I have had the switch changed and the oil pump replaced. Technician says the engine is in good shape.

My 325 still does it, but my mechanic has tested the oil pressure and it tests fine. The owner's manual even mentions if the light comes on, but goes off upon accelleration and only comes on when at idle or low RPM's to disregard it, which I have done for over a year. If you hear of any solutions, please let me know.

Oil Pressure Light
I have the same exact problem with my '97 328i. It started after my last oil and filter change. I replaced the sending unit, but the light still comes on when the car warms up and is idling. Has anyone figured out what is going on? I have 89k on the car and a friend suggested that maybe I should try heavier oil to offset engine wear.
