95 se auto vs 95 accord coupe (stick)
One morning I raced a 95 accord coupe, At the time all I had was CAI and stillin exaust, keep in mind I have an auto. My take off was beautiful, I thought for sure I would whip his A$$. But after about 70 mph or so he started catching up and then he pulled on me. When I caught him at the next light I asked what he had and he said he had a stock prelude engine.... and he had his girl in the car and I was by myself.... Is this possible or do you think he had more done to his car... I noticed he didn't even change his muffler.....

If I'm not mistaking. Both cars have about the same kind of hp numbers. Thats my .02 cents worth.

it's a pretty common swap. it's an h22 prelude engine(2.2liter inline 4). the h22A has 190 hp 142 lbs of torque. the H22 jap spec has 176 torque.
My friend had a H22a in a civic dx hatch. with only an intake and exhaust he ran a 13.7 1/4. He had to remove the power steering pump and a/c. the civic only weighed 2250lbs. an accord is only like 2670lbs. |

That dude must have had something done to his car, it's rare that if both have the same hp but the maxima has a little more torque does an accord get its ass handed to itself. I think he had something done to his car. but that's my opinion

The difference is that you have an automatic. Thats the only difference, Im sure that if yours would have been standard, thay guy wpould have seen only your tail lights

eeh, it happens. Better luck next time.
I bet a major influence would have been the stick.

the difference between stick and auto shouldn't make as big as a difference as you think. It would only make a really big difference if the auto tranny wasn't bitch-shifted (aka shifted manually) or the guy with the accord was a really good driver. But a stick accord with an h22a swap should be an auto maxima, but not by much

i give it to the reasoning of the auto. simply because in my accord, i could beat an ex, with my lx, an he had the same exact mod's. if it'd been auto too, u'd prolly have pulled on him. still tho, tough race, nice try tho...keep up the nice work.

i definitly think its the auto that killed you. the auto shifts slower and it shifts at a lower rpm then when the engine makes it max power.

exactly! plus the stick has an extra gear. So it is a auto. vs. manny thing!
